During the Dark Ages in Northern Europe, the ubiquitous tool carried by everyone, from peasant to king, was the seax. This knife was so important that an entire group of peoples' name is derived from it: the Saxons. Used for everything from wood carving, to eating, to warfare, the seax was a simple but effective design.
It is with this in mind that the Jarl was created: an everyday carry seax for the modern world. At 8" overall, it's the perfect size for your belt. Small enough to be unobtrusive, but large enough to get the job done. The 4" blade is made of stout, 3/16" thick O1 tool steel with a single-bevel Scandi grind. The shapely handle scales are carved from beautifully figured Karelian Birch and are secured with solid brass pins. A flared, solid brass tube allows the attachment of a lanyard for added security.
Included with this knife is a heavy duty veg-tanned leather sheath with solid copper rivets.
