High in the Tyrolean Alps, the extraordinarily preserved body and equipment of Ötzi the Iceman was discovered. Living over 5,000 years ago, the tools about his person gave us an incredible window into how early humans survived and thrived in the wilderness. Among his gear was a small flint dagger, a tool that would have been used all day, every day, for those necessary survival tasks. This is a modern interpretation of that dagger.
Hand forged from 5160 spring steel, and given a rough textured flint look, this small, double-edged blade packs a lot of utility into a small package. The blade is notched and secured into the slotted roasted birch handle with epoxy-saturated jute to simulate the look of flint knives. For added strength and security, a partial tang extends 3/4 of the way into the handle, and is pinned with solid brass stock. This pin is hidden by a second whipping of epoxied jute. A short lanyard is included with a hand carved antler bead.
Included with this knife is a sheath with leather strap for wearing around the neck.
